Kerilee is a Director of People & Culture at ATB Financial Her journey to that role started with one question from ATBs Chief Financial Officer at the time, Jim McKillop ”Who could create and spearhead ATB’s wellness and inclusion mandate?“ She could think of three people who might fit the bill – until suddenly the light went on and she realized that she was that person – she understood ATB’s culture from the ground up, was passionate about wellness in her personal life and had a healthy curiosity to learn more about inclusion. Fast forward four years and Kerilee has developed and implemented foundational strategies around physical and mental health, as well as diversity and inclusion at ATB. As she continues to build out the necessary tools and processes to expand on those strategies, her ultimate goal is to ensure that each team member achieves a holistic view of their wellness and is able to bring their true selves to an inclusive work environment everyday. In turn she believes this environment will create a space for team members to deliver their most outstanding work. The conversation is the relationship- Diversity and Inclusion at ATB. Diversity and inclusion work starts and ends with listening to ‘all the talk’- listening to conversations about perspective, data, demographics, and lived experiences. Regardless of actions taken, diversity and inclusion should never be something that is considered ‘complete’ because it’s an evolving concept that’s re-shaped as the world around us shifts. At ATB we’ve turned these conversations into action by increasing awareness amongst our team members. We’ve highlighted our demographic data and delivered helpful materials for leaders to facilitate discussions with their teams. By listening to feedback we’ve seen positive shifts in our culture translate into action, including new policies, new team member networks, better onboarding policies, and an ally-centered consciousness.
